Savannah is known as a beautiful and historic tourist destination. The city has a rich culture and an undeniable charm that can’t be found anywhere else. Savannah is also a very accommodating place for vegans, as long as you steer clear of the steak and seafood fare. I have visited Savannah many times, so I decided to create this list of the best places in Savannah for vegans to experience. This list is in no particular order.

Fox & Fig

Fox & Fig is Savannah’s only vegan restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing and features vegan milkshakes, burgers, quiches and much more. The menu changes seasonally, so variety is not an issue here! The flavors are very unique and experimental, and the co-owner developed a vegan ice cream so good, that the famous Leopold’s ice cream shop distributes it. If you find yourself in the Savannah area, you definitely want to hit this place up.

The Sentient Bean

If you like tacos and burritos, you will definitely love The Sentient Bean. This cafe is completely vegetarian and features a pretty hefty vegan menu. This place is bursting with art and culture, located right in front of Forsyth Park. The cafe hosts open mic nights, movie nights, and many more events, as well. It has really nice patio seating, and the prices are affordable as well. The Sentient Bean is also located directly beside Brighter Day food store, a local business that sells lots of vegan products, which is extremely convenient.

Purrvana Cafe & Cat Lounge

Purrvana is the purrfect (sorry) place for Instagram pictures! This cat cafe hosts an abundance of adorable and ADOPTABLE kitties. You pay extra to actually hangout with the cats, but the prices are very cheap, and the money goes towards the care and upkeep of them. Purrvana is a fun place to hangout with animals and sip on some vegan coffee at the same time. The menu features a good bit of vegan options, and even if you want to just watch the cats at a distance and not enter the cat room, there are various board games available, and the staff are always really friendly to talk to.

The Coffee Fox

The Coffee Fox is part of a Savannah-based franchise which includes the previously mentioned Fox & Fig. The Coffee Fox cafe has a lot of vegan coffee, tea, and pastry options. My favorites are the soy matcha latte and vegan chocolate chip cookies (featured)! This cafe also has excellent craft brews. The Coffee Fox is located on Broughton, which is the premier street to shop at in Savannah.

Henny Penny Art Space and Cafe

Henny Penny is part of the Savannah Fox franchise, and it features many of the same vegan pastries available in the other two locations mentioned previously. What sets this place apart is their VEGAN DONUTS. It’s so hard to find vegan donuts, but this place has them, and they are GREAT, affordable, and HUGE. If you have kids (or want to bring out your inner kid), there are craft tables available with supplies to make children’s art projects. There are also alcoholic beverages available, and special events marketed towards parents.

Apart from these, there are plenty of other places I love to go to in Savannah with vegan options, such as video game bars, other restaurants, and many more places not even related to food. These are just my absolute favorites, and I make sure to go to one or more of them every time I visit. Make sure to let me know what your favorite places to go to in Savannah are!

  1. I lived in Savannah for about two years (SCAD student) before transferring to the Atlanta campus. That was my favorite thing about Savannah was the cute cafes! You definitely visited all of the major ones. I have a friend that works at The Coffee Fox named Jemma and you might’ve seen her. Foxy Loxy is also an incredibly option too with lots of sweet vegan treats! 1540 Room also has pretty incredible food!

    1. Yesss I love Foxy Loxy! I have never heard of 1540 Room, but i will have to check it out. Thank you so much for the recommendation! Also, you are so lucky to have lived in Savannah. I’m going to miss it so much, as I am also moving to Atlanta.

      1. Are you a SCAD student?? I prefer Savannah over Atlanta, just because the SCAD campus is smaller and more accessible. But both places are fantastic! I recently went back to Savannah last week and rode past Mellow Mushroom, one of my favorite pizza places ever!

  2. Gosh, are all of those vegan places in Savannah? I last wandered around Savannah about 10 years ago and I don’t remember seeing anything that struck me as vegan. My, how the world is changing… Coming next are vegan options at Burger King and KFC!

  3. Wow, that is wonderful to hear. But I have to tell you, I live in central Texas, and that is not the case out here. Servers in Restaurants still look at you like your crazy if you ask if they have vegan options, and the answer is generally “No.” But we do have a few vegan places showing up in downtown San Marcos and of course Austin has a goodly handful.
But I still kind of enjoy going into a Texas Walmart and saying I’m vegan and having people turn around and look at me like I just announced I was “pagan.” Love to let my V-flag fly!
